Distinguished Young Women of Fayette County is part of a national scholarship program that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent in young women.

Cash scholarships are awarded at the local level and millions in college-granted scholarships are available ($1.5 billion nationally). And local winners will advance to the state program in Lexington, KY  where they give away more than $31,150 in cash tuition scholarships.

Program Dates

The Distinguished Young Women of Fayette County program is a local scholarship program for young women in Fayette County and is part of the Distinguished Young Women National Scholarship Program. Our most recent showcase performance was held at the Mitchell Fine Arts Center on the campus of Transylvania University on August 4, 2018. Cassidy Hook, a student of Sayre School, was selected as the new Distinguished Young Woman of Fayette County for the Class of 2019. Cassidy will go on to compete in the Distinguished Young Women of Kentucky Program in January 2019 at the Singletary Center For the Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky. We are currently recruiting new participants for the 2020 DYW of Fayette County program and if you would learn more about the DYW program, please go to www.distinguishedyw.org.
